Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş was born on February 2, 1957, in Güzelyurt. He graduated from the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Middle East Technical University in Ankara in 1979. In 1982, he completed his master's degree in the same department at Middle East Technical University. In 1987, he obtained his Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Middle East Technical University. In 1988, he received the title of Assistant Professor from Middle East Technical University. In 1990, he was granted the title of Associate Professor by the Turkish Council of Higher Education. In 2001, he became a Professor in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Near East University. He has been serving as a faculty member at Near East University since 1990. From 1993 to 1995, he held the position of Dean at the Faculty of Engineering of Near East University. Since 1995, he has been serving as the Vice-Rector. Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş is also a member of the Board of Trustees.

Prof. Dr. Şenol Bektaş is married and a father of two children.
