Assist. Prof. Dr. Gülsüm Aşıksoy has completed her B.Sc degree in Physics Engineering at Ankara University. Between the years 1995 and 2006 she worked in the private sector as a planning engineer in Ankara, Turkey.

She moved to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2006 and begin working as a physics lab assistant at Near East University. Later on, she received her M.Sc degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in the Department of Computers and Instructional Technology. Between the years 2012 and 2018 she worked in the Department of Computers and Instructional Technology as a lecturer.

In 2017, she became the educational technology coordinator and 2018, she became the physics course coordinator as well.
She has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering since the 2018-19 academic year.
Her research interests include flipped learning, gamification in learning and instruction, interactive simulations for teaching and learning physics, digital games and simulations and artificial neural networks.
