
Dr. Arya Saboury (b. 1985, Germany) is an engineer and researcher. He earned his B.Sc. (2010) and M.Sc. (2015) in Electronic and Mechatronics Engineering in Iran, focusing on autonomous vehicles and human-robot interfaces. From 2015 to 2021, he was a project manager and senior researcher at the University of Tehran's TaarLab, leading over 10 funded projects in SLAM, HRI, and autonomous navigation. Since 2021, he has been pursuing his Ph.D. at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Cyprus, specializing in uncertainty-aware anomaly detection for autonomous navigation using deep learning and LiDAR-camera fusion, resulting in publications such as in IEEE RA-L. Concurrently at EMU, he serves as a teaching assistant, instructing in robotics and electronics and having supervised over 90 undergraduate capstone projects. Dr. Saboury is an internationally recognized professional with awards like the EUROINVENT 2016 Gold Medal and leadership roles, including Chair of the FIRA RoboWorldCup 2019.
