Ali Serener was born in 1976 in Nicosia, Cyprus. In 1992, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the USA. He graduated from high school (Türk Maarif Koleji in Nicosia) in 1993. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Kansas in 1997, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in 2000 and 2005, respectively. In the summers of 2000 and 2001 he worked in the USA at Hughes Network Systems and Motorola, respectively, as an intern. He is presently an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Near East University. During 2011-2013 and 2013-2017 he served as the vice chairman and the chairman, respectively, of the same department. His teaching and research interests include electronics, digital design, and communications. He is an IEEE member.
